Which Air Cooler Padding is the Best: Honeycomb Cooling Pads or Woodwool Cooling Pads

With the summer season approaching, all of us are looking for the best Air Coolers. But we all end up getting confused as there are a lot of options available in the market. You will come across various types of air coolers of various brands. But have you noticed one thing that when you buy coolers from local areas they always have wood wool padding but then on the other side the expensive coolers of the top brands have honeycomb padding? So now you must be wondering what’s the reason behind this. Why does the padding differ? And which padding is better? Today we will be answering all of your questions in this article. So make sure that you read this article till the very end.

You must have observed that when it comes to the padding in the air cooler there are two types of padding available. The first type is honeycomb padding and the second type is WoodWool padding. Before moving on to seeing which cooler is better when it comes to padding let us first understand what is the use of a cooling pad in an air cooler.

Honeycomb Cooling Pads VS Woodwool Cooling Pads

What does the cooling pad do?

The sheet-like material placed inside the cooler is called padding. The only thing that the padding does in an air cooler is it retains water and provides surface area for evaporation. The water pump drives the water up and then it drips down on the cooling pad. Then this water that drips down is retained by the cooling pad. When the fan in the cooler is turned on the air then goes inside and passes through this padding. Due to evaporation, the air that goes inside cools and the cooler air comes out.

The wood wool padding is made from synthetic fiber and it looks like grass but this wood wool padding does not last for a long period of time. It only lasts for one year and it retains less water. Hence the room does not get much cooler. But on the other hand, the honeycomb padding is made up of a material that has cellulose and it lasts for a longer period of time which is around two to three years. The best part is that it has a much higher water retention rate and therefore it cools your room better than the wood wool padding. So from this, we understand that the honeycomb padding cools the room better. And hence, the honeycomb padding is more expensive than the wood wool padding.

Which cooler padding is budget-friendly?

When it comes to cost, the honeycomb padding is more on the costlier side compared to the wood wool padding. So coolers that have honeycomb padding are more expensive. The wood wool padding costs around Rs. 100 to 150 where as the honeycomb padding costs around Rs. 500-700. So we can say that the maintenance cost of the honeycomb padding is three times the maintenance cost of the WoodWool padding. So when you buy a cooler you will have to change its padding every year. So maintaining the cooler with honeycomb padding will cost you more. If you do not change the padding it affects your cooling rate. So to maintain the cooling rate of your cooler you will have to change the padding every year.

Differences between WoodWool padding & Honeycomb padding

What are the differences between the wood wool padding and the honeycomb padding?

Before we come to a conclusion let us go through all the differences between the honeycomb padding and the WoodWool padding.

  • The biggest and most important difference between the Honeycomb padding and WoodWool padding is the water retention rate which decides the cooling capacity of the cooler. The honeycomb padding has a higher cooling efficiency so your rooms get much cooler than the WoodWool padding which is the biggest benefit of the honeycomb padding.
  • Many people are concerned about the price and the maintenance cost of the cooler padding. So if we compare the honeycomb padding will cost you more as it is super expressive than the WoodWool padding.
  • The honeycomb padding will last for 2 to 3 years on the other hand the WoodWool padding will last for only one year. So the honeycomb padding is much more durable than the WoodWool padding.

These are the major differences between honeycomb and WoodWool padding. So before concluding go through these differences and then decide which one is more convenient and suitable for you. Now that we have covered everything about the WoodWool and honeycomb padding we hope this answered all of your questions and will help you in making a better choice!
